I spent a good portion of last night fixing up the Higgs' house. I'm still missing a few things, but they're all pretty minor, so the house is pretty much set to shoot again. For example...

Hadron bought Alice a sturdier stepladder. Will she finish the dining room before the baby is due?

It seems like I just don't have enough hours in the day anymore, and an unstable connection isn't helping matters any. Keyword(s): save often

It never fails, Seamus always transitions up into something strange... and bald. Haha!

I swear, this spot in the story progression is jinxed. Whenever I restart my story hood, and this is my third attempt, something always goes wrong after I send this generation off to college. Not necessarily anything game related, but things I can't control; for instance, the computer dies/gets a virus, new computer, etc. Now, it looks like we might be wiping the hard drive. Ugh... *headdesk*

Here's a peek at the "Crystal Springs" Uni campus I've been rebuilding for my story. I used the "Three Lakes" template this time, which I am much happier with. The layout is similar, but less spread out, so it feels more complete as a subhood. Lots are mostly Irma's, refurbished by me.

What Sims 2 Aspiration Are You?
Popularity You like being liked, simply put! It makes you happy to know that others enjoy your presence. You want to have a group of friends who like you for who you are, and will be there for you when you're down -- and when you're having a good time. However big or small this group is (although it's likely big), they are the ones who keep you going from day to day and it's hard to imagine what life would be like without them. You're probably the life of most parties, and you know how to keep the good times going.

In the game, Popularity sims often want to throw parties, be best friends with other sims, and maintain a good reputation. Popularity sims are a bit like Family sims in that they want to keep in touch with those they care about, and maintain strong relationships.

Maybe to a certain aspect, I mean, I do like to hear kind words, and it's always nice to hear that someone has appreciated your work - but, I don't do anything for that reason. However, people are very precious to me and it's exceptionally hard for me to let go of friendships. Even if we never talk anymore, I always hate to lose touch completely. I think that's just caring, not about being popular. Other than that, I've always been more of a loner.

It really saddens me that I never made a single story update in 2011. It was a helluva year for me, and I simply got burned out with all those computer issues on top of it. Hopefully, I'll do better this year.

In other sim-related news, I've been playing a lot of Sim Social. It's been a nice change of pace, and is fun to play with other players, but damn... that game is like crack (so addictive)!!! That said, I had better go collect my daily bonus now. *lol*

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! Have a wonderful weekend.

I came across the vintage base image awhile back. The cutaway "dollhouse" view reminded me of the Sims, so I decided to make a greeting card out of it. :o)

I've been busy rebuilding Belladonna Cove, back to the state that it was previously on the old computer. It's been a slow, tedious process, but I'm looking forward to actually playing again soon. I've also been reinstating all of the friends & families and their relations. Here's a few silly shots from the Newsons. They're challenging, being all kids, but have such strong sense of family (in my game/head anyway); which is what I love about them!

It was a day of festivities as the toddlers grew into children. Atlas
and Justin even swung by to help celebrate. Garrett, being slightly
older, went first. This day couldn't have come any sooner!

I've been scouring the net trying to relocate this hair for Sims 3, but I can't remember who even made it. I lost everything on the old computer, and my only backup was made prior to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

It looks like this cat is in the wrong category. Haha!

P.S. I'm surprised that billboard isn't in simlish.

While importing some old sims into my game, I came across several which had "unknown" package files come up on Clean Installer, sometimes multiple times.

The file itself is the dreaded "b18484e15a91c5a039d61f635d15d7c3.package" (Sims06.package), the same one [livejournal.com profile] kingmike1224 brought to my attention, back when I had the "RSL-browcombed_puregreenm.package", and the "package.package.package" glitch. I immediately removed the files, yet somehow sims that were later packaged up from BS had this one reattached. I might also add that they were all older sims from past installs, and none that I've shared with others. Whew... thank goodness.

Anyhow, what I'm wondering about, is if it's safe to install these affected sims if I uncheck the "unknown" files in Clean Installer? I've searched & searched, but haven't found much info relating to it.

Hoping to play soon, but there's a spot in my game that keeps glitching. So, Hadron is on vacation for now!

Just after I had finished sending my sims off to college, we got a new computer. Did I call this one, or what? Now, I get to start them (The Higgs) all over aaaaaagain. It will be so much easier, actually having all the EP's and stuff now. I had a lot of fun replaying these guys again though. It was kind of like a dream, where things are familiar, but everything just off a little. Anyway, here's a few shots that I took last week, just for fun. :oD

Not only did Justin bring Atlas a bouquet after their date, but a full-sizes DJ booth too!

PONG

I still have a working console, but it's not compatible with the newer digital TV's. Time to fire up the ol' Zenith!

I finished up my version of the Seaspray Apartments without the Apartment Life EP. I built this from an empty lot. Some of the changes are more obvious than others, but it should work out alright as a set for now. I'll just have to be careful about what I allow into my shots.

More funky texturing problems. I've come across sore items with texturing from other items, or in this case, no texture at all. Any idea what could cause this?

I use this security camera on practically every community lot, it does not normally look like this. It reminds me of the lot loading on Sims 3, only the textures never load.

I've reclaimed a good portion of my downloads, but since I no longer have the Apartment Life EP, I've had to remake the Seaspray apartments from the ground up for my story. While I was busy decorating, I happened across these interesting vases.

Recognize the dining room?

I've had this nacho dispenser in the game for years, but somehow I'd never noticed the texture transfering onto the vases before. I sort of love it. Where's the chips though?

I cracked open the installed game that came with this computer, updated my mods, and went in to play. Not only did they use the game installer for everything (I've since removed those files), but there's houses full of sims in the lots bin!!! Nooooo.......

I remember them having some problems with their game once before, so given the massive amounts of gibberish package files, I think this was how they packaged up and re-imported their sims, cc, houses, you name it. I have the fun job of trying to sort out this mess. Remember, the cd drive is shot, so I'm stuck with this install if I want to play at all.

IIRC, there's a tutorial, or a mod (debugger maybe), over at MATY for properly deleting sims. I'm wondering if I could I do this, and then delete all the neighborhoods? Or would deleting the neighborhoods alone simply fix this? I've read that deleting the neighborhood folder alone is a VBI, but if I delete the regular Maxis hoods within the game, will they still regenerate? I'd still like to play the Maxis hoods, I just don't want any dangling data.

P.S. Should I have character files in the main LotCatalog - because there's 229 of them.

The computer is toast! Even if we wiped the hard drive, all the pictures I was working on for my update, not to mention two and a half years of game files, are gone. I did, however, find the flashdrive with my packaged sims on it.

So... I just spent the past two days downloading like a madwoman, trying to get enough CC to continue with my story on the spare computer, and the disk drive won't even read the damn disk. Why I did it in that order is beyond me, but I'm sure there was some method to my madness at some point. All that work for nothing. Well, until I get a new computer or something, then I'm as good as gold. Digital download perhaps? The Sims 2 store might be down, but the main EA site still offers them. Seems kind of silly though when I don't know how long I'll even be using this computer.

I guess my sims really are stranded...
